The Letter of St. Paul to Titus Chapter 2

The Letter of St. Paul to Titus

 Chapter 2

¹ But as for you, teach what is consistent with sound doctrine.

(The Letter of St. Paul to Titus Chapter 2 verse 1)

Oh God my Father since I am not versed in doctrine or in theology, I pray that nobody ever stumbles as a consequence of what they might reflect on in this blog. As You know what I share I do so in a spirit of prayer in Your presence. You guide my mind and inspire me on what to include and even not to include Amen. Thank You, Jesus.

² Tell the older men to be temperate, serious, prudent, and sound in faith, in love and in endurance.

(The Letter of St. Paul to Titus Chapter 2 Verse 2)

Oh God my Father that we all may be of self-controlled, prudent convinced of whom we believe in and full of Your love both for ourselves and for others Amen. Our lives would be truly healthy and balanced if we were to have and share such positive qualities Amen.

³ Likewise, tell the older women to be reverent in behavior, not to be slanderers or slaves to drink; they are to teach what is good, ⁴ so that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, ⁵ to be self-controlled, chaste, good managers of the household, kind, being submissive to their husbands, so that the word of god may not be discredited.

(The Letter of St. Paul to Titus Chapter 2 verses 3 to 5)

Oh God my Father, many times youths are accused unjustly in relation to issues such as drug and alcohol abuse and have also been labelled by us adults as being not self-controlled. However, if we had an inside look at ourselves, we would be aware that we are the ones who are setting bad examples for the younger generations, and that if these persons are behaving in this way, it is our responsibility to help them and not judge them. For in truth we created such people and therefore due to the examples that we gave them we are also responsible for their behaviour.

⁶ Likewise, urge the younger men to be self-controlled. ⁷ Show yourself in all respects a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, gravity, ⁸and sound speech that cannot be censured; then any opponent will be put to shame, having nothing evil to say of us.

(The Letter of St. Paul to Titus Chapter 2 verses 6 to 8)

Oh God, my beloved Father I urge all including myself, to be humble and self-controlled, for if we lose control, our humanity will take control and we will be worse than animals, whom we consider to be inferior to us in the chain of creation. I pray that You give me the grace to set a good example to others and ask Your forgiveness during moments where my behaviour was not exemplary Amen.

⁹ Tell slaves to be submissive to their masters and to give satisfaction in every respect; they are not to talk back, ¹⁰ not to pilfer but to show complete and perfect fidelity, so that in everything they may be an ornament to the doctrine of God our Savior.

(The Letter of St. Paul to Titus Chapter 2 verses 9 to 10)

Oh God, my Father I pray that we be more like You than like our natural selves. I pray for self-control and humility so that during moments of trial and tribulations, with the help of Your Holy Spirit I learn how to overcome myself and be more like You Amen.

¹¹ For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all, ¹² training us to renounce impiety and worldy passions, and in the present age to live lives that are self-controlled, upright and godly, ¹³ while we wait for the blessed hope and the manifestation of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.

(The Letter of St. Paul to Titus Chapter 2 verses 11 to 13)

Oh Holy Spirit of God my Father, anoint us with Your Spirit so that we may live a life, beyond what is of the material and sinful life, so that the power of the Holy Spirit may take full control and guide us in the management and control of ourselves Amen. Instead of saying "Let the music take control!" I pray that we sing "Let the Spirit of God take control!" Amen.

¹⁴ He it is who gave himself for us that he might redeem us from all iniquity and purify for himself a people of his own who are zealous for good deeds. ¹⁵ Declare these things; exhort and reprove with all authority. Let no one look down on you.

(The Letter of St. Paul to Titus Chapter 2 verses 14 to 15)

Oh God, my beloved Father, I am forever indebted to You, for I can never pay the price of my redemption, a price that was paid by Your precious blood. I thank You for counting me as one of Your people who wish to do good deeds, even though at times my sinful nature gets the best of me. Throughout the course of life we listen to many events as on the media, however, we rarely listen to those wonderful things that You have performed in our lives Amen. May I be Your witness my God and Father Amen.

Oh God my beloved Father, I would like to end this second chapter of St. Paul's Letter to Titus with the following prayer:-

Oh God, my Father if we had to obey ourselves the teachings that You gave us throughout this second chapter of St. Paul's letter to Titus, our lives would never be the same again. We would be self-controlled and a people who have love and care for the well being of others instead of an individualistic society who primarily considers its own needs before those of others Amen.
